DASAL Aviation Technologies, a Turkish manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles, has entered into a defence supply partnership with Nigerian company NIGUS International Investment Limited.
The agreement was signed during the SAHA 2026 international defence, aviation and space industry exhibition held at the Istanbul Expo Centre in Turkey, according to Anadolu Agency.
SAHA Istanbul is regarded as Europe’s largest defence, aviation and space industry cluster.
Apart from the supply arrangement, both firms also agreed on local assembly and conditional technology cooperation.
“The agreement signed between DASAL Aviation Technologies and NIGUS at the fair lays the foundations for the provision of strategic systems for approved official end users, as well as a permanent defence cooperation infrastructure in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region,” the report reads.
Under the deal, DASAL will supply 100,000 DASAL MIKON Kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles, 200 DASAL FALCON R556 systems and 100 DASAL PUHU cargo UAV platforms.
The agreement also provides for the development of local defence industry capacity in Nigeria.
As part of the arrangement, DASAL will establish assembly, system integration, maintenance and repair facilities in Nigeria through NIGUS, which serves as the strategic platform coordinator.
The companies said the initiative would help the Nigerian armed forces maintain continuous logistical support and improve operational readiness.
DASAL General Manager Kutay Büyüköztürk described the agreement as a major step for the company’s international operations.
According to him, the partnership strengthens DASAL’s position in asymmetric warfare operations and under-cloud combat technology.
He added that the company has continued to expand its defence technology and logistics support presence across Africa.
“Our aim is to maximise the force multiplier effect of the Nigerian Armed Forces on the field with a disciplined integration and uncompromising technical support strategy,” Büyüköztürk said.
NIGUS Chief Executive Officer Malik Ado-Ibrahim said the agreement reflects a new direction in Nigeria’s defence strategy.
“This strategic coordination we establish with DASAL is a paradigm shift in the approach to modern defence supply of Nigeria and the broad ECOWAS region,” he said.
“Going beyond traditional purchases, gradual local assembly focuses on integration capabilities. Thus, we are building an industrial base based on high technology.
“Bringing the engineering strength of DASAL’s multi-rotor platforms to Nigeria is a strategic step in ensuring regional security and long-term operational flexibility.”
The agreement comes amid growing military cooperation between Nigeria and Turkey.
Earlier in January, both countries signed nine bilateral agreements during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to Turkey. One of the agreements focused on defence cooperation.
Last month, Defence Minister Christopher Musa also disclosed that Turkey would train 200 Nigerian special forces personnel as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.
