Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has spoken out against what he describes as a dangerous plot by some family members and associates to damage his image, interfere in his relationships, and falsely portray him as mentally unstable.
In a video released online, the veteran singer said he could no longer stay silent because the situation had escalated beyond normal family issues.
He stated firmly, “I’m okay. I’m perfectly normal. Please stop painting me as mentally unstable.”
2Baba alleged that the same interference that once affected his marriage to Annie Idibia is now being directed at his current partner, Natasha, who he says has been receiving death threats.
“My family destroyed my marriage with Annie. Now they are after Natasha,” he claimed, adding that the people who claim they are protecting him are actually putting both of them in danger.
“You say you’re trying to save me, but you’re killing me. You’re killing us. I’m a grown man and I have the right to be with who I want to be with,” he said.
He noted that he has been active and publicly visible, recently performing in Abuja, and insisted that anyone who has seen him knows he is fine.
2Baba also condemned the alleged lies being spread about him, saying the fabrications had become overwhelming.
“What my family is doing—fabricating so many lies… It has become so dangerous. It’s not funny anymore. I’m totally devastated,” he said.
He appealed for an end to the threats and interference, asking the public and his relatives to respect his privacy and personal choices.
“Please, just stay out of my private and personal life. Just let us be,” he pleaded.
The singer hinted that he will reveal more soon, stating, “I’m not going to be quiet anymore. In the next couple of days, I’m going to speak a whole lot of truth.”
