The Kebbi State Police Command has neutralised a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group and recovered 33 cows that were rustled along the Kamba–Kangiwa road in Dandi Local Government Area.
The attack occurred when armed bandits reportedly raided a farmhouse in the area and stole the livestock. They were confronted by a joint security team comprising police officers and personnel from the Army’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kamba, forcing the attackers to abandon the stolen cattle and flee.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed that one of the bandits was killed during the operation, while another escaped with gunshot wounds. He added that all 33 cows were successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owner.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hadejia, commended the operatives for their swift response and effective collaboration in repelling the attack. He assured residents that patrols would be intensified across vulnerable communities to curb banditry and protect lives and property in Kebbi State.
