A former senator who represented Kogi West and a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has taken a swipe at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging that the commission now operates in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Melaye faulted the electoral body over what he described as bias and a wrong interpretation of a court directive. He made his views known in a video shared on his X account, where he also expressed concern over declining public trust in INEC.

He warned that those responsible for the situation should not remain in office, insisting that decisive action must be taken.

“We expect that the president will either sack or these people will sack themselves because INEC has misinterpreted the order of the court, they have shown partiality.

“They have shown that they are a department of APC, and we have lost confidence in them,” he said.

His remarks come at a time when prominent ADC leaders staged a protest at the INEC headquarters in Abuja. The demonstration followed the commission’s decision to delist the party.

The protest was led by factional Interim National Chairman, David Mark. Other notable political figures present included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, among others.
