The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cautioned prospective corps members posted to Osun State to avoid travelling at night as they prepare for the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation exercise.
The advice was given by the Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Ita Kubiangha, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo through the scheme’s spokesperson, Mrs. Catherine Otemuyiwa.
Kubiangha called on corps members to place their safety first by travelling during daylight hours. He also advised them to use recognised motor parks and seek support from transport unions within the state.
He appealed to transport unions to assist corps members with movement to the orientation camp at approved fares.
According to him, the three-week orientation programme for the 2026 Batch A Stream II will run from April 22 to May 12, while the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for April 24.
“We advise corps members that night travel exposes them to risks, including accidents and security threats.
“Parents and guardians should support and encourage their children as they undertake this phase of national service,” he said.
The coordinator further urged corps members to remain vigilant and comply with all safety directives throughout the exercise.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC and relevant stakeholders to ensure the welfare and security of all participants deployed to Osun State.
