The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has said the state was plagued by deep divisions, instability, and broken trust before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed him to oversee its affairs for six months.

Ibas, who spoke during an Inter-Denominational Church Thanksgiving Service at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt, said his tenure was focused on rebuilding unity and restoring peace in the state.

“Rivers was torn by divisions, instability, and broken trust before the intervention of Mr. President,” he said. “Over the past six months, I deliberately sowed seeds of love and peace to stabilize the state.”

The thanksgiving service formed part of official activities marking Rivers State’s transition back to democratic governance.

Ibas expressed gratitude for the support he received from religious leaders, traditional institutions, and stakeholders throughout his administration, noting that the foundation of peace laid during the transitional period would enable the state to move forward.
