Piero Hincapie has made just two appearances off the bench since signing from Bayer Leverkusen on deadline day.
The Ecuadorian defender arrived on an initial season-long loan with a £45million obligation to buy included in the deal.
Following his debut against Athletic Bilbao last month, though, Hincapie was sidelined for several weeks with a groin issue.
Having returned to fitness, he made his first Premier League appearance against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The 23-year-old replaced Riccardo Calafiori for the final eight minutes as Arsenal closed out a 1-0 home victory.
Arteta was full of praise for Hincapie’s performance as well as fellow summer signing Cristhian Mosquera, who also came off the bench to aid the defence.
Discussing his backline, the Spaniard told the club’s media channels: “When you look at the results, the type of games, the way goals have been scored, how difficult it is to break opponents down and to kill every source that they have to generate chances against you, it makes me really proud.
“For Mosq, big credit for him because he’s played, I think, only one year in La Liga, he comes to a new league with huge demands and immediately he’s having the impact that he’s having.
“It’s great to have Piero on the pitch as well. You could sense immediately his aggression, his commitment in every action that he does.
“I think the crowd is going to love him, and [credit to] the rest of the boys that had to come in to win the game.”
Hincapie is predominantly a central defender but can also play at left-back.
Arteta had consulted his former manager Xabi Alonso prior to completing his signing from Leverkusen.
The loanee could now be in line to make his first start for the Gunners in midweek.
Arsenal host Brighton in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
