Super Eagles and Fulham loanee Samuel Chukwueze has been ruled out of the Cottagers’ fourth-round Carabao Cup clash against Wycombe Wanderers this evening, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old moved to Craven Cottage on loan from Milan after a tough start to life at the San Siro.
However, the move to Fulham hasn’t exactly gone great either. Chukwueze has played just 63 minutes of football, largely due to his struggles with injuries.
Chukwueze to miss Fulham’s game against Wycombe
Prior to Fulham’s 1-2 loss to Newcastle United over the weekend, the club coach, Marco Silva, already revealed the former Villarreal winger was a doubt to feature at St. James Park.
Upon further checks, Chukwueze was sanctioned from travelling with the team to Tyneside, and will now miss a chance to get more minutes at Adams Park tonight.
“In terms of numbers, I think we’re going to have around six to seven players out of the squad again.
“To be clear, Joaching Anderson, Antonee Robinson, Emile Smith-Rowe, Rodrigo Muniz, Harry Wilson and Chukwueze,” the former Watford coach said in his pre-game preview.
Despite the long injury list, the Portuguese coach wants his side to go further in the League Cup, and spurred them to make the most of the opportunity.
“First of all, here, no one underestimates the opposition at all. We know what these competitions mean for us, and for our opposition, it’s always an opportunity.
“For us, it’s an opportunity to go through in the competition, to arrive in certain stages, and the final stages of this competition.
“For our opposition, it’s always a big chance the next day to be in the spotlight, to be in all the TV shows and newspapers and all that stuff.
“We know that, and we have to be very serious. But nothing different from the last games we have played in the competition.
“We prepare ourselves like we prepare for the Premier League games, and we have to go there and show our quality.
“Their enthusiasm is going to be top, and we have to have the same enthusiasm as well. The same will, the same desire, and after show why we are playing and competing in the Premier League,” Marco Silva concluded.
Fulham haven’t been in the best form this season; they’ve won just one game from their previous five, suffering four consecutive losses.
