No fewer than three male adults have been confirmed dead in a road accident that occurred on Sunday along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.
The crash, which happened at about 1:04 p.m. in the Oniworo area, involved a blue Lexus Jeep with registration number GGE 18 JV and an unregistered black Boxer motorcycle.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector, Odunsi Afolabi, a total of eight people were involved in the accident.
He stated that one person was injured, three were killed, while four others escaped unhurt.
Afolabi explained that the crash was caused by excessive speed, which led to a tyre burst.
He Said, “Total Involved: Eight (All Male Adults). Injured: One Male Adult; Three Killed.
“Suspected Causes: Speed Violation (SPV) And Tyre Burst (TYB). The FRSC Rescue Team At The Ogunmakin Unit Command Arrived At The Scene Within Five Minutes Of Receiving The Call At 13:06 Hrs.”
The injured victim was taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara.
Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and advised motorists to obey speed limits and ensure their tyres are in good condition.
