Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has won her defamation case against a Nigerian news outlet that falsely linked her romantically to Senator Dino Melaye.

The legal victory came almost two years after the platform published a report naming Adunni Ade among “six popular Nigerian celebrities” allegedly dating the politician.

Reacting to the false publication, the actress filed a ₦100 million lawsuit against the media company, accusing it of defamation and invasion of privacy.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday evening to celebrate her win, Adunni praised the Nigerian judiciary for delivering justice.

She wrote: “Won my case Adunni Ade vs. Polace Media Limited (http://www.naijanews.com). A false story was published about me, but truth stood tall. This judgment reaffirms that privacy matters – and so does integrity. Justice delayed isn’t justice denied.

“Two cases won, a few more to go. You who is running up and down avoiding court papers, please stand still, so that you can be served.”

Responding to a fan’s question in the comments, Adunni revealed that the court awarded her ₦20 million in damages but noted humorously that the blogger had japa.

“Judge granted ₦20 million in damages, but blogger don japa. Na to garnish account remain,” she added.
