Senegalese-American singer Akon has praised the late pop icon Michael Jackson, describing their collaboration as the proudest moment of his career.
He made the statement during a recent episode of the We Need To Talk podcast, where he reflected on working with the legendary singer.
Akon said he feels like “a child” compared to Michael Jackson, adding that meeting and working with him was a major highlight in his life.
“My photo with Michael Jackson is my most proudest photo. I was already a full blown celebrity at the point the photo was taken. But I am a child compared to this man (Michael Jackson).
“I was so happy because I grew up looking up to him. He is like everybody’s Idol,” he said.
The 53-year-old also spoke about his contribution to African music, noting that he supported and worked with Afrobeats artists such as P-Square and Wizkid through his involvement in Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment.
Akon also praised Nigerians and the growth of Afrobeats, stating that Nigerians are among the most intelligent people in the world.
“Nigerians are the most intelligent people on the planet. They have done amazingly well with Afrobeats,” he added.
