The biggest change at Manchester United has been the change of mentality, unity among the team under Michael Carrick, according to winger Amad Diallo. He also added that every player is taking responsibility for one another, which has seen Manchester United push towards fourth and clinch a Champions League spot.
Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has revealed that interim manager Michael Carrick has reshaped the club’s mentality and made the entire squad have a unified purpose and take responsibility for one another, which has seen Manchester United push back into the top four of the league standings. Diallo told Sky Sports that this has been “the biggest change” since he took over the helm on 13 January.
Carrick has led the Manchester club to 10 victories, two draws, and two losses out of 14 games in charge of the team, bringing stability and driving United’s chase for Champions League football. The Ivorian has spent over 2,173 minutes this season and managed to contribute to 2 goals and 3 assists in 30 appearances for the team. Diallo says the environment Carrick has created around the dressing room is “very important”. “I enjoy playing with him. He is a good guy, talking to everyone, having a good relationship with every player. That helps a lot,” said Diallo.
The winger believes the team now has a new mentality, as there is no sense of fear or accusation when any player makes a mistake. “The biggest change is the team’s impact. In the dressing room, we are really together. Every mistake is not a problem – your mistake is my mistake. We are going forward as a team and want to win as a team,” Diallo admitted.
Diallo has also credited the team of Carrick with Travis Binnion, his assistant manager, for injecting vitality and spirit into the squad. “Michael Carrick and his staff are very important. They are injecting energy into the team, and this is really important,” he stated.
Manchester United have secured a Champions League spot, and it now remains to see who will be appointed the next manager of the club. However, Diallo has already revealed his desire. “Everyone is very happy to have him as a manager; everyone is supporting him. We would be very happy to have him next season as a manager,” he said.
