The All Progressives Congress (APC) has consolidated its political stronghold after sweeping the majority of seats in Saturday’s by-elections across 16 federal constituencies in 12 states.

According to official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the ruling party clinched 12 out of the 16 contested seats, reaffirming its dominance in key regions.

In contrast, the coalition-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) failed to secure a single seat, despite mounting efforts to expand its presence in the National Assembly.

Political analysts say the outcome highlights the APC’s continued grassroots influence ahead of the 2027 general elections, while raising questions about the opposition’s ability to mount a serious challenge.

INEC is expected to release the full breakdown of results, including performances of other opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), in the coming days.
