Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), has expressed gratitude as construction of the 100,000-capacity Ark auditorium nears completion.
In a video shared online, the respected cleric was seen singing and rejoicing over the progress of the massive project, describing it as a symbol of God’s grace and dedication.
The Ark, located in Ota, Ogun State, is expected to be one of the largest church auditoriums in the world. The building will host tens of thousands of worshippers and include modern facilities aimed at supporting global evangelism.
However, the project has stirred mixed reactions on social media. While many congratulated Bishop Oyedepo and his church members for their consistency and faith, others questioned the need for such a large religious structure at a time when the country faces serious economic challenges.
Some Nigerians argued that the resources spent on the project could have been used for more practical developments such as industries, schools, and hospitals.
One social media user commented, “One offering and tithe from this project could be bigger than a state’s annual budget,” while another said, “They can build big churches but not industries. When it comes to real productivity, the energy disappears.”
Despite the criticism, supporters of the project have continued to celebrate the progress, describing the Ark as a monumental achievement and a lasting legacy of faith.
