Burna Boy Sets Record for Biggest Streaming Year by an African Artist on Spotify

Nigerian music star Burna Boy has set a new African record on Spotify after recording the biggest streaming year ever by an African artist.

In 2025, the Ye crooner amassed an impressive 1.986 billion streams on Spotify, making him the most streamed African artist for the year. This achievement places Burna Boy ahead of several top African music stars, including Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Tyla.

Spotify’s 2025 streaming data shows that Wizkid finished as the second most streamed African artist with 1.81 billion streams. South African singer Tyla followed closely in third place with 1.67 billion streams.

Rema ranked fourth with 1.63 billion streams, while Davido placed fifth after recording 1.58 billion streams during the year.

Other artists who made the top 10 list include Asake with 1.52 billion streams, Ayra Starr with 1.47 billion streams, CKay with 1.38 billion streams, Seyi Vibez with 1.32 billion streams, and Mr Eazi with 1.26 billion streams.
