The arraignment of Nigerian actress, Doris Ogala, at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, was stalled due to her absence in court.
Ogala is facing a four-count charge involving the alleged publication of personal materials of Chris Okafor, cyberbullying and harassment, attempted extortion, and the dissemination of false and inciting information aimed at incriminating the cleric.
During Thursday’s hearing, the prosecuting counsel, Tolulope Mokuola, requested a bench warrant to compel Ogala’s appearance, stating that she failed to attend court despite being served a hearing notice.
However, the defence counsel, Temiloluwa Akindayini, opposed the request, informing the court that the actress had undergone surgery on Tuesday and is currently recovering in Abia State.
He also revealed that an affidavit explaining her medical condition had been filed before the court on April 22, 2026.
The prosecutor challenged this claim, noting that the affidavit was not served to the prosecution and that there was no prior communication about the alleged surgery.
In his ruling, Justice Akintayo Aluko declined the request for a bench warrant and instead ordered that the actress must appear in court for her arraignment on June 9, 2026.
“The Defendant Must Present A Verifiable Medical Report From A Government Hospital And Ensure That The Same Is Served On The Prosecution Before The Next Adjourned Date. Also, The Defendant Must Be Present In Court For Arraignment,” The Judge Said.
It would be recalled that Doris Ogala had earlier accused the cleric of criminal activities and threatened to release scandalous evidence against him.
