A Lagos court has discharged and acquitted Nigerian celebrity auto dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, of any involvement in the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
IVD was cleared on Monday, December 15, 2025, bringing to an end a legal battle that lasted over three years following accusations from Bimbo’s family that he was responsible for her death.
The development was announced by his partner and self-styled relationship expert, Blessing CEO, who shared the news on her Instagram page. Celebrating the court’s decision, she described the outcome as a victory after years of pain and false narratives, while also encouraging people to leave unhealthy relationships.
“Discharged and acquitted, 15th December 2025. It ended in praise. Four years of tears and false narratives. Nigeria justice system still works. I’m proud of my country. IVD, you can now have your life back. Congratulations. If marriage or relationship no dey work, please run, don’t wait for anybody to pass,” she wrote.
Bimbo Ogbonna died in October 2022 after sustaining injuries from a fire incident at their Lagos home, an incident that was linked to allegations of domestic violence.
In March 2023, IVD was arraigned by the Lagos State Government on charges of involuntary manslaughter and was later granted bail.
He was rearrested on August 1, 2025, by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions while travelling to Qatar ahead of his planned wedding to Blessing CEO.
With the court’s latest ruling, IVD has now been formally cleared of all charges relating to his wife’s death.
