Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, are reportedly preparing to get married next summer in Madeira, his birthplace.
According to Jornal da Madeira, the wedding will take place at the historic Funchal Cathedral shortly after the 2026 World Cup, followed by a luxurious reception at a top hotel on the island.
The couple announced their engagement in August after more than nine years together. Ronaldo, 40, later shared that the proposal happened in a spontaneous and simple way. He said it was around 1am, and while his daughters were asleep, a friend handed him a £1.5 million ring.
As he offered it to Georgina, two of his children walked in and excitedly asked if he was going to propose to their mother. Ronaldo said the moment felt right, even though he had not planned it. He did not kneel because he wasn’t prepared, but he described the moment as beautiful and heartfelt, adding that he is romantic in his own way.
Ronaldo has five children. He shares two daughters, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda, with Georgina. His eldest son, Cristiano Jr., was born in 2010, and in 2017 he welcomed twins, Eva and Mateo, via surrogacy. The football icon and Georgina, an Argentine-Spanish model, are believed to have begun their relationship in 2016 during his time at Real Madrid.
The upcoming wedding is expected to be one of the most anticipated celebrity events of 2026, bringing together family, friends, and fans in Ronaldo’s beloved home island.
