Nigerian singer, Davido, has announced that he is taking an indefinite break from music.
The award-winning artiste made this known during a recent livestream with Davrel, where he told fans not to expect any new songs from him anytime soon. According to Davido, he is currently on a musical sabbatical.
Speaking during the livestream, the singer explained that he does not feel pressured to release new music to remain relevant in the industry. He stated that many of his songs are still dominating playlists in clubs.
“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break. Like I said if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine. So I am on a musical break,” he said.
Davido also shared his thoughts on the growing celebrity boxing tournament in Nigeria, describing it as a positive development for the entertainment industry.
“I am actually impressed by the celebrity boxing tournament. It is a welcome development,” he stated.
Recall that popular streamer Carter Efe recently defeated controversial singer Portable to become the new champion of the Nigerian celebrity boxing tournament.
Following his defeat, Portable accused some of his colleagues in the music industry of not supporting him, claiming that many people in the industry dislike him.
