The Federal Government has announced that staff recently disengaged from the Dangote Refinery operations will be redeployed to other subsidiaries of the company, following the resolution of its dispute with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to him, the decision was reached after a meeting between government officials, the Dangote Group, and representatives of PENGASSAN.
“After examining the procedure used in the disengagement of workers, the meeting agreed that the management of Dangote Group shall immediately begin the process of redeploying the disengaged staff to other companies within the group,” the minister said.
He further assured that none of the affected workers would suffer any loss of pay as a result of the redeployment.
The development comes amid growing concerns over job security in the oil and gas sector, with the Dangote Refinery seen as a major national asset expected to create thousands of jobs for Nigerians.
