Nigerian rapper and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has stirred public debate after reaffirming that he does not consider fornication a sin — a stance he says is based on his personal belief system, which he refers to as the “religion of love.”
The controversy began after Falz tweeted, “fornication isn’t a sin,” a post that quickly drew criticism from both Christian and Muslim communities, with many referencing religious texts to counter his claim.
Responding in an interview with Arise TV, Falz clarified that his statement wasn’t from a religious doctrine like Christianity or Islam but based on his own values.
“I think people read the tweet and assumed I was speaking from a Christian standpoint. I wasn’t. I wasn’t speaking from that perspective at all,” he explained.
Falz elaborated that his belief system does not condemn consensual sex between unmarried adults.
“Under the religion of love, I don’t believe premarital sex is a sin. These are two consenting adults, not harming anyone. So what exactly is wrong with that?” he said.
He also made a bold personal revelation: “I’m no longer a Christian. I practice the religion of love.”
His remarks have sparked widespread conversation online, with many debating the intersection of personal beliefs, morality, and organized religion.
