Guinness World Record-holding chef, Hilda Baci, has donated ₦2 million to support organisations seeking justice for 13-year-old Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbanje, who died in 2018 after years of alleged abuse by her guardians.
Baci described Ochanya as a young girl who deserved safety and protection but was betrayed by those meant to care for her. She said honouring Ochanya’s memory goes beyond social media hashtags, urging for real funding, accountability, and community support for survivors of abuse.
“A 13-year-old girl who should have been safe, loved, and protected was instead failed by the very people meant to guard her,” Baci wrote on Instagram.
She announced that the ₦2 million pledge will be shared between two NGOs that support victims of s3xual abuse, with selections made based on public recommendations.
“I’d love for you to help me choose two trusted NGOs to receive this donation. Drop your nominations in the comments or tag them below so my team and I can review and reach out directly,” she added.
Baci also encouraged the public to donate to an ongoing GoFundMe campaign pushing for justice in Ochanya’s case, saying that every contribution—financial or otherwise—strengthens the fight for survivors.
“Honouring her memory means doing more than posting hashtags. It means showing up for those who are still here—making sure no one ever feels alone in their pain again,” she said.
Her gesture has earned widespread praise online, with many commending her compassion and transparency amid renewed calls for #JusticeForOchanya.
