Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has shared how becoming a father at the age of 25 completely changed his outlook on life and finances.
Speaking on the “Is This A Safe Space?” podcast, the Zanku crooner revealed that the birth of his son five years ago made him reassess his lifestyle and priorities.
“The birth of my son changed me. It made me realise that life was getting more serious. I wasn’t prepared. I started paying house rent in London at 25. I was scared I might not be able to keep up with the bills because some people were saying I might not be relevant in the music industry for more than three years,” he said.
Zlatan admitted that fatherhood forced him to become more disciplined, especially when it came to money management. “I became more serious with managing my finances. Limited spending and started saving for diapers,” he recalled.
The rapper also reflected on how his son’s birth influenced his behaviour, saying it helped him avoid certain habits he once engaged in.
Since welcoming his child, Zlatan has continued to grow both as an artist and as a person, often crediting fatherhood for giving him a clearer sense of purpose and responsibility.
