Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile, whose real name is Temidayo Omoniyi, has shared how he struggled financially during his early days as a student at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
In an interview with popular streamer Shank Comics, Zlatan revealed that even after winning the Airtel One Mic Talent Show in 2014, life was still tough for him.
He explained that he used the car he won from the competition to do transport business at night so he could afford food and school expenses.
“Back in school, when there was no money for food, I would wait till night and use the car I won from the Airtel One Mic Talent Show to run cab from Abeokuta to Shagamu for ₦350,” he said.
Zlatan won the competition at just 19 years old, but his big break in the music industry came in 2017 when he featured Olamide on his hit song “My Body.”
The Zanku Music boss has described that collaboration as the turning point of his career, saying Olamide’s verse was “life-changing.”
