Veteran Nigerian actor, Dele Odule, has revealed that he once got to a point in life where he priced his own casket due to frustration and hopelessness.
The actor made the emotional revelation during an interview with Feelright TV while speaking about some of the darkest moments in his life and career.
According to Dele Odule, he made the decision during a period when he had completely lost hope and felt there was no breakthrough coming for him in the movie industry. He disclosed that fellow actor Olaiya Igwe accompanied him at the time.
“I had priced my own casket before, when I was in a state of hopelessness, and complete loss of hope. Olaiya Igwe went there with me. Olaiya started crying like a baby.
“I wasn’t sick, I just believed I can no longer have breakthroughs in the industry. I was fed up. Because all my school mates are doing far better than me and my life was nothing to write home about,” he said.
Dele Odule also explained that his pain was not caused by illness, but by disappointment and frustration over how his career and personal life were progressing at the time.
The actor began his acting career in the 1970s and became widely popular in 1993 after starring in Ti Oluwa Nile, one of the most recognised classic Yoruba movies in Nigeria.
