I Quashed My Beef With Aka Before His Death – Burna Boy

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has revealed that he and late South African rapper AKA settled their long-running feud before the rapper’s death.

The two artistes fell out in 2019 after Burna Boy threatened to “deal” with AKA if they ever crossed paths. The tension followed controversy linked to xenophobic violence in South Africa at the time, after AKA shared screenshots of hateful messages he said he received from Nigerians during AFCON-related banter.

Burna Boy has now disclosed that they privately resolved their differences before AKA was killed.

In a posthumous birthday tribute shared on his Instagram page, Burna Boy expressed regret that AKA died before they could properly reconnect and work on music together.

He wrote, “Happy birthday Supa Mega. We fell out over bullsh*t even though we squashed it over Twitter DMs nobody knew about, we never got the chance to really link up and do what we were supposed to do. I will regret that until I see you again. Until then, R.I.P Mega.”
