Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has said her biggest regret is using the money she won from the show to support family members instead of investing it.
She explained that she was young and inexperienced at the time she won the prize, and she did not manage the money properly.
Speaking during a recent livestream, Phyna said she now feels that she was not given proper financial guidance, especially from older family members who instead kept asking her for money.
She said rather than encouraging her to invest, many of them depended heavily on her financially and placed constant demands on her.
Phyna said, “The mistake I made was using my Big Brother Naija prize money to support family members instead of investing it. I thought I was helping my family members and sorting out their debts. I was spending generously on them. None of the older family members called me to give me financial advice on how to invest or manage the money well.
“All of them were constantly demanding money for several stuff. I dug a lot of boreholes for family members. But the moment I started saying ‘No’ that was the beginning of my problem with family members. They complain and even call me out in the media whenever I can’t meet their demands. But now that the money has finished, I’m the only one facing the reality alone,” she said.
She also recalled that she won the Big Brother Naija Season 7 grand prize of ₦100 million in 2022, which included ₦50 million in cash and ₦50 million worth of prizes.
