Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her long struggle with addiction, revealing that she started smoking at the age of 13 and battled various addictions for 27 years.
The actress made the disclosure while sharing a testimony during a Sunday service at Streams of Joy International Church. She said her struggles were not limited to smoking, but also included alcohol addiction, masturbation, and prolonged anger issues.
Describing the experience as “demonic oppression,” Dikeh said her freedom came through divine intervention. According to her, she began to notice real changes in her life when her spiritual life improved.
“I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation too. I have known myself to have sexual intercourse in the dream ever since I was a child,” she said.
Dikeh explained that her smoking habit began because her father was a smoker, warning parents to be mindful of the habits they expose their children to, as such influences can have long-term effects.
The 40-year-old actress also disclosed that she was recently delivered from what she described as “demonic anger,” noting that it had negatively affected her relationships and personal life for years.
Following her testimony, the founder of Streams of Joy International Church, Pastor Jerry Eze, prayed for her, declaring that “the burden of sin is broken” and describing her as “a voice in her generation.”
