Nigerian music star Ayra Starr recently opened up about how special it was to meet her musical idol, Rihanna.
In an interview with ETalk TV, she described Rihanna as not just a music icon, but also a genuinely kind and inspiring person.
According to her, choosing Rihanna as a role model was one of the best decisions she’s ever made.
She spoke warmly about how surreal it felt to meet the global superstar for the first time, and even more exciting was finding out that Rihanna is a fan of her music too.
“She’s such an amazing person,” she said. “It still feels like a dream, honestly. People always say, ‘don’t meet your idols,’ but I’m so glad I met mine. She’s everything I imagined and more.”
What stood out most to Ayra Starr was learning that she’s her idol’s favourite artist. “I’m my favourite artist’s favourite artist,” she said, clearly still thrilled by the moment. She also shared how nervous she gets around Rihanna and how she sometimes tries to cover it up with awkward jokes.
Ayra Starr added that Rihanna is not just a great artist but also someone she looks up to deeply — as a woman and as a creative force. She ended by saying she’s hopeful that a music collaboration between them could happen in the future.
