Kano Pillars Football Club has condemned the violent conduct of some fans following their 1-1 draw with Shooting Stars SC in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 8 encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Sunday.

In a statement signed by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, Pillars described the incident as the handiwork of “a few misguided individuals” who attempted to cause disorder immediately after the final whistle.

According to the club, the situation was swiftly contained through the intervention of stewards and security agencies, ensuring that players, match officials, and fans left the venue safely.

“We are pleased to confirm that players of both teams and match officials all left the stadium unhurt and safely escorted by the security operatives,” the statement said.

The club also confirmed that several culprits were arrested and handed over to security agencies for investigation and prosecution, vowing full cooperation with authorities to ensure justice is served.

As part of its internal disciplinary measures, Kano Pillars announced a 10-season ban for all individuals identified as troublemakers from accessing the Sani Abacha Stadium.

“Kano Pillars FC will fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure that any individual found culpable faces the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.

The club reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, discipline, and sportsmanship in line with NPFL and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regulations, while urging supporters to maintain decorum during matches.

“We urge our teeming supporters to continue to show passion and support for the team in a peaceful and orderly manner as true ambassadors of the great Kano Pillars FC,” the club stated.

Kano Pillars currently sit mid-table in the NPFL standings as the season continues to gather momentum.
