The Nigerian Air Force has intensified counter-terrorism operations in Borno State with fresh airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts in the Sambisa Forest area.

The development was announced in a statement shared on the official page of the Nigerian Air Force on May 26, 2026.

According to the statement, air assets under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI carried out precision strikes on identified terrorist camps and logistics facilities located at Biramiri in the Gezuwa area of Borno State.

The operation was reportedly launched after Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance reports confirmed the presence of terrorist activities in the area.

The Nigerian Air Force said the strikes successfully destroyed key facilities being used by insurgents, while several fighters were reportedly killed during the coordinated attack.

The military added that the continued air offensives have disrupted the movement and activities of terrorist groups operating within the Sambisa axis, reducing their ability to move freely or access safe locations.

According to the statement, the operation is part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI and other security agencies to sustain pressure on terrorist networks across the North-East region.

“The coordinated attacks destroyed key terrorist facilities and neutralised several fighters, further crippling the operational capacity of the insurgents,” the statement read.
