The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested several suspected drug traffickers during operations carried out across different parts of the state.
The State Commander of the NDLEA, Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed this while highlighting the agency’s achievements over the past week.
According to him, operatives arrested two female suspects behind the Oredo Local Government Area Secretariat in Benin City.
The suspects were identified as Eniye Osague, 25, and Osaretin Erabor, 43.
Ofoyeju said the women were arrested on May 15, 2026, with 272 grams of Scottish loud and 914 grams of cannabis sativa respectively.
The NDLEA commander also revealed that another female suspect, Vivian Chukwuma, 38, and a male suspect, Osigwe Omogie, 44, were arrested in the Hausa Quarters area of Oluku, Benin City.
According to him, substances recovered from the suspects included 315 grams of cannabis loud, 22 grams of Colorado, 38 grams of methamphetamine, 30 grams of Tramadol 100mg, 113 grams of cannabis sativa, 8 grams of loud, and 5 grams of tramadol.
He further disclosed that in separate operations, three female suspects and one male suspect were arrested during raids conducted behind the Oredo Local Government Secretariat, the Oluku area, and Uduwuga in Uhumwonde Local Government Area.
In another major operation, the NDLEA said it destroyed two cannabis plantations located in Ago Forest, Orhionmwon Local Government Area.
Ofoyeju explained that the operation followed credible intelligence which led operatives to two large cannabis farms measuring a combined 0.555367 hectares.
The estimated yield from the destroyed farms was put at about 1,388.42 kilograms of cannabis.
He noted that no arrests were made at the farms because the cultivators were absent when the raid was carried out.
