Popular Nigerian singer, Asake, has reacted to the death of a young woman, Karen Lojore, who reportedly lost her life during a stampede at his concert in Nairobi, Kenya.

The incident sparked outrage among many Kenyans on social media platform X, where users blamed poor planning and crowd control for the tragedy. Several commenters questioned why only one entrance gate was available at the concert venue, a situation they said caused impatient concertgoers to rush in, leading to the fatal stampede.

Reacting to the incident via his Instagram Stories, Asake expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended his condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.

“I am devastated by the tragic incident that took place at the festival on Dec 20th in Nairobi. My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened,” he wrote.

The singer also called for accountability, stressing that those responsible should be held to account.

“Those responsible should be held accountable. Music has always been my way of sharing love and joy, and it breaks my heart that anyone had to experience such loss,” he added.

Asake concluded by offering prayers for the deceased and those grieving her loss.

“My thoughts are with everyone grieving, and I pray that Karen rests in peace.”
