Nollywood star Shawn Faqua and his bride, Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe, have made history by becoming the first Nigerian couple to wed aboard a moving train.
The unique ceremony took place on Sunday along the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Railway. The couple transformed a train coach at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station into a beautifully decorated venue, creating an unforgettable setting for their big day.
Departing from the Alagomeji-Yaba Station in Lagos, the train carried the newlyweds and their guests on a symbolic journey of love and adventure. Viral videos captured moments of excitement as the bridal party hurried to board, adding a spontaneous touch to the celebration.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) also acknowledged the event, praising the couple for their creativity. “From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track,” the NRC wrote. “History made — the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination.”
The Faquas’ wedding has since drawn admiration across social media, hailed as a blend of love, innovation, and national pride — a remarkable milestone in Nigerian wedding culture.
