Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared how her family narrowly escaped being poisoned after receiving a deadly food gift on New Year’s Day.
Speaking in a recent video to members of the church, the 77-year-old cleric recounted that the food, which was part of the many gifts brought to their home during the celebrations, was given to their dogs instead — a decision that saved their lives.
“Somebody brought food to our house on New Year’s Day. I went into the kitchen and asked who owned the food. They said someone brought it, and I told them to give it to the dogs,” she explained.
According to her, a visitor from London who witnessed the moment was surprised and questioned her action. However, not long after, the gatekeeper returned with shocking news — the dog had died after eating the meal.
“One woman who came from London looked at me strangely, almost wanting to scold me. But within an hour, the gateman came and said the dog had died,” she recalled.
Mrs. Adeboye noted that if any family member had eaten the poisoned food, the outcome could have been tragic.
“Imagine that on a New Year’s Day, someone in Daddy G.O’s house ate that food — maybe three or four people. What would the news have been?” she asked.
She urged members of the church to be prayerful and cautious, especially during festive seasons when people often exchange gifts.
Foluke Adeboye and Pastor Enoch Adeboye have been married since 1967 and share three children together.
