President Masoud Pezeshkian has provided his first account of a meeting with Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He highlighted the Leader’s humbleness, sincerity, and ethical character, deeming the discussion a model of governance and administration behavior in Iran. http://presstv.ir

Warm and Sincere Atmosphere
At a meeting of the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade officials, Pezeshkian announced that he had spent two hours and 40 minutes in discussion with the new Leader. “The atmosphere of the meeting was warm and sincere with direct talk and mutual respect, [and] because of his humbleness and sincere behaviors, it was turned into a conversation based on trust, empathy, and calm,” he said.

Leadership by Example
The president argued that the leader’s humbleness and people-friendly behaviors were a good model for the country’s administrative apparatus. He stated that the highest-ranking official of a country and its administration should use humbleness, heedful behavior, and ease, and in the same way, the head of the country’s executive branch will do it. The behavior of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is such, he emphasized, and is an important model of being close to the people.

Ethical and Managerial Qualifications
The president added that Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei’s behavior in the meeting was very sincere and based on respect for the interlocutor, and there was a sense of trust, proximity, and direct conversation with the new leader. These qualities are of vital importance to the administrative behavior and the managerial nature of the Leader, Pezeshkian asserted.

Context of Leadership Transition
Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the leadership role following the assassination of his father and predecessor, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which took place on February 28. The attack, attributed to the United States and Israel, was reportedly part of a larger strategy aimed at undermining the stability of Iran. The bombing campaign continued for 41 days, targeting both military and civilian infrastructure in an attempt to overthrow the Islamic Republic amidst internal unrest fueled by foreign-backed armed groups.

Iran’s Response to Aggression
The intended short-lived campaign escalated a protracted conflict lasting 41 days. Iran responded to the aggression with drone and missile strikes on American and Israeli interests. The magnitude of the retaliatory response forced both the U.S. and Israel to declare a unilateral ceasefire. This episode underscores the delicate political circumstances in which Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei came to power.

To Build Cohesion and Trust
The president linked the characteristics of the new Leader with those demanded by the nation and the system, especially for the promotion of cohesion, trust, and understanding within the system. He argued that if the highest-ranking member of the society possesses and uses the required moral characteristics and attributes of attention and receptivity, all the administrative managers will also practice the required humbleness.

Symbolism of the Meeting
The president’s account of the first direct meeting is symbolic, demonstrating the continuity of a certain leadership style from the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to his successor. The humble, truthful manner that Pezeshkian presents is essentially the ideal he suggests all Iranian leaders should aspire to, especially in times of economic and political hardship.

At the end, President Pezeshkian paints a warm picture of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as a nice man devoted to the principles of simplicity, veracity, and virtue. Through the presentation of the friendly and warm discussion he had with the Ayatollah as a comfortable and believable conversation, Pezeshkian presented an image of an administration that values the people over the power.
