The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly linked to the abduction of students from the Faculty of Engineering, Nasarawa State University, Gudi Campus.
The police also confirmed that the abducted students have been safely released and reunited with their families after the operation.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the arrest followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations carried out by officers of the command.
The suspects were identified as Abdullahi Yeyi Haro, who was described as the alleged leader of the kidnapping gang, and Basiru Abdullahi. Both suspects are said to be natives of Gudi community in Nasarawa State.
The statement explained that the suspects were arrested after careful investigations and strategic operations aimed at dismantling the criminal group responsible for the abduction of the students.
“The Abducted Students Have Been Safely Released And Reunited With Their Families. The Victims Are Currently Receiving Medical Attention And Necessary Support Following Their Ordeal,” The Statement Said.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, praised the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism, commitment, and dedication to duty.
He also reaffirmed the command’s determination to fight kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, adding that efforts are still ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
“The Command Remains Determined To Rid Nasarawa State Of All Forms Of Criminality, Particularly Kidnapping And Other Violent Crimes,” The Commissioner Said.
The police further appreciated residents for providing useful information that helped the operation succeed and encouraged the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence.
