Nigerian rapper Erigga has spoken against polygamy, saying it causes more harm to women and children than to men.
Speaking during an interview with Yanga FM Lagos, the rapper shared that his views are shaped by his experience growing up in a polygamous family. According to him, polygamy often leads to pain and conflict within the home.
“I am trying not to be like my father. I don’t like polygamy; one person gets hurt, which is the woman. There’s never a polygamous situation where the man gets hurt — it’s always the woman and the kids,” Erigga said.
He urged men to avoid the complications that come with having multiple wives, saying that monogamy is simpler and brings more peace and fulfillment for everyone involved.
