Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has criticized some of the biggest names in Afrobeats, accusing them of preventing upcoming artistes from rising in the music industry.

Speaking during a livestream on Instagram shortly after his release from jail, the street-hop singer claimed that a few established stars have controlled the industry for more than a decade, leaving little room for fresh talent to break through.

According to Portable, artistes like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Olamide have remained at the top for years and continue to dominate the spotlight. He alleged that this long-standing dominance makes it harder for new musicians to gain recognition and succeed.

Portable also accused top celebrities of living fake lifestyles to impress the public. He suggested that some luxury items flaunted online, such as expensive jewelry, may not actually be purchased by the artistes themselves but could have been given to them for free. However, he said they often present these items as personal purchases to appear wealthier.

In his words, he claimed that some stars exaggerate the value of their possessions, saying they bought items worth huge amounts of money when that may not be the case.
