Seven people have been confirmed dead in a tragic road accident that occurred late Monday night along the Malam Madori–Hadejia Road in Jigawa State. The Chairman of Kafin Hausa Local Government Area narrowly escaped death in the crash.

Eyewitnesses said the accident happened around 9:45 p.m. at Kashin Dila Junction and involved a Toyota Starlet commercial vehicle and a black Mercedes-Benz GLK.

The Toyota Starlet, driven by Adamu Dakido, was reportedly travelling from Hadejia to Malam Madori with passengers on board when it had a head-on collision with the Mercedes-Benz.

The Mercedes-Benz was said to be carrying the Kafin Hausa LGA Chairman and his driver, who were on their way from Gumel to Kafin Hausa at the time of the incident.

The impact of the crash reportedly killed all six occupants of the Toyota Starlet instantly due to the severity of the collision.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz also died on the spot, bringing the total number of fatalities to seven.

The council chairman survived the accident but sustained injuries of varying degrees and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police officers reportedly arrived at the scene, evacuated the injured victim, and moved the bodies of the deceased to the General Hospital in Hadejia.

Efforts to get official confirmation from the Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
