Singer, Niniola Apata Loses Husband, Michael Ndika

Nigerian afro-house singer, Niniola Apata, has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.

She shared the heartbreaking news through a series of emotional posts on her Instagram story in the early hours of Wednesday. The Grammy-nominated singer revealed that her husband had passed away, although she did not give details about the cause of his death.

Michael Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform that focuses on Afro-house and modern African music. His death has been reported, but the circumstances surrounding it have not been made public.

In one of her posts, Niniola wrote, “God took him.”

In another message, she said, “My husband died.”

She later shared another emotional post alongside photos of them together, writing, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years,” showing how deeply the loss affected her.

The singer has not shared any further information about what led to his passing, as she has generally kept her personal life private and away from public attention and social media.

Niniola, 39, first came into the spotlight after participating in Project Fame West Africa in 2013, which helped launch her music career. She has since become one of Nigeria’s leading Afro-house artists. Her 2017 hit song Maradona gained international success and attracted attention from global music figures such as DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
