Troops of the 159 Battalion have arrested two suspected terrorists during a stop-and-search operation in Yobe State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a statement shared on X, noting that the suspects—Dahiru Mohammed (40) and Ismail Adamu (34), both from Geidam—were apprehended around 8:00 a.m. on April 30.
The arrest took place at a military checkpoint operated by B Company in Kanama, as the suspects were reportedly returning from Damasak market.
According to the report, the suspects were flagged during a routine check, and preliminary investigations uncovered suspicious materials on their mobile phones, including images suggesting possible links to terrorist groups.
Items recovered from them include two smartphones, multiple clothing items such as hijabs, veils, turbans, footwear, children’s clothes, prayer materials, and a cash sum of ₦408,500.
The suspects, along with the recovered items, are currently in military custody as investigations continue, with authorities considering further action, including prosecution.
The operation is part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the Lake Chad region aimed at curbing terrorist activities and improving security.
