Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in Kanama town, Borno State, killing four insurgents.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident happened around 6:00 p.m. on April 22 when troops from the 159 Battalion responded to gunshots within the town.
On arrival, the soldiers discovered that the terrorists had already infiltrated parts of the community.
The troops quickly engaged the attackers with coordinated firepower, forcing them to retreat.
Further operations in the area led to the killing of four insurgents.
One member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) was injured during the encounter and has been taken for medical treatment.
Recovered items from the insurgents included two torchlight mobile phones and ₦21,000.
Makama noted that although the situation in the area is currently calm, it remains unpredictable, adding that the troops remain alert with high morale and readiness.
