You Can’t Tell Me How To Grieve – Phyna Opens Up On Partying After Sister’s Burial

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has responded to the backlash she received for partying shortly after her sister’s burial.

Phyna lost her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, in August following an accident involving a Dangote truck. Ruth was laid to rest in September.

However, a recent video showing Phyna at a club with actress Regina Daniels sparked criticism online, with many accusing her of being insensitive for going out so soon after the tragedy.

While Regina Daniels earlier defended her, urging people not to judge how others grieve, Phyna had remained silent until now.

Breaking her silence on X (formerly Twitter), the reality star explained that grief is a personal journey and that people mourn in different ways.

She wrote:

“Grief has no manual, no fixed face, and no timetable. The fact that I choose to keep living, smiling, or sharing moments does not erase the pain I carry.

Respect the process, even if you do not understand it. If you cannot extend compassion, then at least extend silence.”

Phyna’s statement has since stirred mixed reactions, with many fans showing her support while others continued to debate her response.
