Nollywood actress and producer Mary Remmy Njoku has shared her thoughts on what it takes to gain fame and succeed in today’s media industry.

Speaking at the NECLive panel, she reflected on her journey and explained that she built her wealth and brand by solving real problems in the creative space. According to her, genuine hard work doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves.

She said the media spotlight often goes to people who do bold, extreme, or unusual things, making it harder for those doing meaningful work to gain attention.

Despite this, Mary encouraged young creatives to continue using their influence for positive impact, even though the industry tends to reward sensational behaviour.

In her words:
“I got rich by solving problems. If you want to blow right now, you can’t blow by doing good. You have to do something stupid or crazy right now. And it’s not fair on the very few people that are doing good.”
