Nollywood actress and producer Sandra Okunzuwa has claimed that actors now earn more money from YouTube movie productions than traditional cinema films.
Speaking during a recent episode of the BTS Reality podcast, Sandra said the era when Nollywood actors were poorly paid, especially in YouTube productions, is over.
According to her, the rise of digital movie platforms has significantly improved actors’ earnings, with some performers now charging millions of naira for short filming schedules.
“Nollywood actors are now very expensive. When people say they don’t pay actors well, maybe that was the case when it was just cinema, Netflix and others,” she said.
The actress explained that some actors currently earn between ₦4 million and ₦5 million for just four days of shooting in YouTube movie productions.
“But now, actors on YouTube are paid highly. Some of them charge N4 million to N5 million for four-day shoot,” she added.
Sandra Okunzuwa further claimed that YouTube filmmakers now offer better financial deals to actors than many cinema movie producers.
“YouTube pays actors better than cinema movies,” she stated.
