The Academy has officially announced the nominations for the 97th Academy Awards, celebrating the most outstanding films and performances of the past year.
This year’s nominations are led by Sinners, which made history with a record-breaking 16 nominations, becoming the most-nominated film ever and surpassing the previous record held by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land.
One Battle After Another followed closely with 13 nominations, while Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, and Sentimental Value earned nine nominations each. Hamnet also performed strongly with eight nominations. The Oscars ceremony will take place on March 15, 2026, with comedian Conan O’Brien hosting.
Best Picture nominees are Bugonia, F1: The Movie, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams.
In the Best Actor category, nominees include Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent).
Best Actress nominees are Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (Bugonia).
For Best Supporting Actor, the nominees are Benicio del Toro (One Battle After Another), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Delroy Lindo (Sinners), Sean Penn (One Battle After Another), and Stellan Skarsgård (Sentimental Value).
Best Supporting Actress nominees include Elle Fanning (Sentimental Value), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value), Amy Madigan (Weapons), Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners), and Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another).
The Best Director category features Chloé Zhao (Hamnet), Josh Safdie (Marty Supreme), Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another), Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value), and Ryan Coogler (Sinners).
Original Screenplay nominees are Blue Moon by Robert Kaplow, It Was Just an Accident by Jafar Panahi, Marty Supreme by Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie, Sentimental Value by Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier, and Sinners by Ryan Coogler.
Adapted Screenplay nominees include Bugonia by Will Tracy, Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro, Hamnet by Chloé Zhao and Maggie O’Farrell, One Battle After Another by Paul Thomas Anderson, and Train Dreams by Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar.
In the Animated Feature category, the nominees are Arco, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2.
Documentary Feature nominees are The Alabama Solution, Come See Me in the Good Light, Cutting Through Rocks, Mr Nobody Against Putin, and The Perfect Neighbor.
For International Feature Film, the nominees are The Secret Agent (Brazil), It Was Just an Accident (France), Sentimental Value (Norway), Sirāt (Spain), and The Voice of Hind Rajab (Tunisia).
