CAF’s Controversial Decision Sparks Outrage: Senegal Denied AFCON Crown, Morocco Awarded Title

The Football Governing Body on the continent made a controversial decision to strip the West African nation of the crown in favour of the 2025 hosts. It is a move that is unprecedented, and the majority of the stakeholders have questioned the logic behind it two months after the final. The FSH have since vowed to appeal the decision to CAS.

The majority of Football lovers in Africa are unhappy with CAF’s decision to crown Morocco and deny Senegal the crown they won on the pitch after beating the Atlas Lions by a solitary goal. Have a look at their reactions as sampled by GOAL.

So, when is Morocco going to celebrate and parade their trophy? Are they going to wear their AFCON jersey or will they just celebrate in casual clothes? – Frank Masemola

We all know that Morocco only got to the AFCON finals because they didn’t play against Bafana Bafana – Sanele Sai Seneleh

I told people they mustn’t walk off the pitch like that; the referee is not allowed to continue the game if a team walks off. But he did, instead of finishing the game after Senegal walked out and awarding Morocco the victory, I knew it was gonna haunt them at the end, those are the rules.
