Asake, Burna Boy, Olamide, Others Make Barack Obama’s Favourite Music Of 2025

Former United States President has released his annual list of favourite books, movies, and music for the year, and Nigerian Afrobeats artistes have earned notable spots on the 2025 music list.

Obama unveiled the lists on Thursday, continuing a tradition he began during his time in the White House. Among the standout inclusions are songs by Nigerian stars and , further highlighting the global reach of Afrobeats.

Burna Boy’s song Tatata, featuring American rapper , was named as one of Obama’s favourite songs of 2025. Also making the list is 99 by Olamide, which features , , , and .

Another song with Nigerian roots, Not In Surrender by British-Nigerian singer , was also included on the prestigious list.

The former president’s music selections also featured several international superstars, including , , , , and Canadian rapper .

Sharing the lists on his official X account, Obama wrote, “As 2025 comes to a close, I’m continuing a tradition that I started during my time in the White House: sharing my annual lists of favorite books, movies, and music. I hope you find something new to enjoy.”

The inclusion of multiple Nigerian and Nigerian-connected artistes has sparked excitement among fans, further underscoring Afrobeats’ growing influence on the global music scene.
