Atlético Madrid are considering a €35m move for Nigeria winger Ademola Lookman as the Super Eagles star prepares for a possible departure from Atalanta at the end of the season.

The Spanish side have emerged as one of the clubs maintaining a close watch on his situation, identifying him as a potential addition to bolster their attacking options, according to Marca.

The development comes as Turkish giants Fenerbahce prepare to send top officials to Italy to finalise a transfer for the 28-year-old, who reportedly told Atalanta upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco that he wishes to leave the club.

According to Fotomac, Fenerbahce are planning a loan transfer with an option to buy the player at the lowered asking price of €35m.

Atalanta have reduced their valuation from €50m to €35m, according to transfer specialist Ekrem Konur. The Serie A side had blocked Lookman’s move to Inter Milan last summer, insisting on the higher release clause.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Atlético Madrid are long-term admirers of Lookman and are considering a move for the versatile forward, though the Spanish club are yet to make formal contact with either Atalanta or the player’s representatives.

The 28-year-old, who operates primarily on the left flank, is admired for his direct running, pace and ability to destabilise defences in one-on-one situations.

Turkish champions Galatasaray have also been making efforts to secure the Nigerian’s services, with Victor Osimhen confirming he has discussed the prospect of a move with Lookman.

Reigning Serie A champions Napoli have also intensified talks with Atalanta as they look to bolster their attacking options before the transfer window closes, despite Atalanta’s reluctance to sell to domestic rivals.

Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Aston Villa all declined the opportunity to sign the player, despite Atalanta’s openness to negotiations.

With approximately 18 months remaining on his current contract, Atalanta are weighing the option of selling Lookman at a reasonable fee or risking losing one of their star performers on a free transfer.

Lookman’s performances at the 2025 AFCON—where he scored three goals and provided four assists for Nigeria—underlined his continued quality.
